Irrespective if Harris or Trump won the Election, we are living in a moment where there is bipartisan support for federal changes to Cannabis Legislation.
We know that an overwhelming majority of people want to move beyond decades of outdated regulations. However, it’s still unclear whether the future will lean toward an expanded MSO model, a single-molecule Pharma model, or a descheduled recreational model.
Having thought deeply about this, there seems to be no better time to share my thoughts with you all.
From my perspective, the model for the USA (and beyond) involves :
𝐀𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭/𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 to exist in a way like alcohol. This means, retail, dining, events, homegrown, and the craft beer/winery model for B2C unique offerings.
𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 is the new medical option for patients who want their medicines to be covered by insurance. These patients are assessed, treated and have their care overseen/managed in the community with no restrictions on driving, operating machinery or accessing their medicines within the workplaces (should they not be under the influence), have the freedom to travel with their medicines and be able to access their medicines via prescription at the hospital or within care facilities.
Without getting too complicated, the final area of the model is research and this has crossover with Integrative Cannabis Care, just like healthcare now.
Within 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, it is all about discovering the healing properties for targeted indications, establishing safety parameters around Cannabis and is the designated pathway to have products approved for patients in the Integrative Cannabis Care model. This structure ensures there are incentives for the companies that invest in research programs while also providing financial incentives to patients who participate in research. Additionally, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 must widen the focus to also have social impact initiatives that explore how cannabis might also offer new tools for driving positive social change, building resilience, and enabling community healing.
My intention to put this out to you all is to be critiqued. So please start pulling this apart! Please comment below! Chad Walkaden, Founder, OnTracka
